End Our National Nightmare!

end our national nightmare!
By Rick Stiller
Despite a rambunctious hue and cry from MAGA racist Republicans, Bad Bunny put on a creative, entertaining halftime show at this year’s Super Bowl at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California, featuring a broad mix of ethnic dancers and extras who declared, “This is who we are. This is America today!”
Most of the songs were performed in Spanish, but the atmosphere enveloped the international audience in a joyous embrace of unity and fellowship that transcended any language barriers, under a banner that read “The only thing more powerful than Hate is Love!”
Our racist-in-chief fumed, it was “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER," in a post on social media on Sunday. Trump called the show a "'slap in the face' to our country," saying there is "nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show."
Bad Bunny (Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) refuses to perform in the United States for fear that ICE will target his audience. Trump’s Gestapo stormtroopers have expanded their sadistic terror campaign against anyone in our country who happens to have brown skin or speaks with an accent.
While Bad Bunny’s show attempted to display the best of us, no one could avoid the horror and outrage over the image of five-year-old Liam Ramos in his Bunny hat and Spiderman backpack being detained with his father in his own driveway after arriving home from school. The unidentifiable ICE thugs tried to use wee Liam as bait to lure his mother to open the front door of their home so they could arrest her too. Father and son were shipped to an appalling detention center in Dilley, Texas, where more than half of the detainees are children, including a two-month-old infant.
US District Judge Fred Biery granted an emergency request from the family's lawyer and ordered their release, writing in his ruling, “The case has its genesis in the ill-conceived and incompetently implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children.”
Data from late 2025 showed that more than 400 children were being held in draconian detention every day. While the government refuses to release accurate information about the current count, it seems obvious that the number has grown exponentially since the invasion of Minnesota and other communities with significant refugee populations, including their current assault on Maine.
U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, who escorted Liam and his dad home after spending two-and-a-half hours inside Dilley, said the 1,100 detainees housed at the facility, “…are literally being treated as prisoners. This is a monstrous machine.” Wee Liam is just one of thousands who are suffering under institutional brutality.
ICE arrested 36,579 people in January, fewer than the 37,842 in December, and is currently holding 70,766 people in detention in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, and California. 74.2% of those prisoners do not have any criminal record.
The two largest private companies with ICE detention contracts are CoreCivic, which received $538.2 million from the government in the second quarter, and GEO Group, which reported revenue of $636.2 million. Both companies are known for chronic understaffing, dangerous conditions, a lack of access to adequate or edible food, clean drinking water, toilets and showers, and for denying contact with lawyers or family in their facilities.
A GEO subsidiary, GTI, is the largest provider of ground and air transportation for ICE and expects that added flights will produce an additional $40-50 million annually.
CoreCivic CEO and Director Damon Hininger told investors during the Aug. 7 earnings call that the new budget bill is “a pivotal moment for funding related to our industry.”
Similarly, GEO Group Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board George Zoley told investors on their Aug. 6 call: “Given the intrinsic value of our assets and the unprecedented growth opportunities we anticipate will materialize over the balance of this year and next year, we believe that our current equity valuation offers an attractive opportunity for investors.”
Both companies are planning for rapid expansion and mind-boggling profits from trafficking and detaining thousands of human beings, including infants and young children.
Kristi Noem’s DHS is proud to boast that ICE and the Border Patrol are kidnapping children from their schools, detaining American citizens going about their daily lives, invading homes without warrants, using violence to silence dissent, and murdering innocent Americans…all in support of Trump’s corrupt, racist agenda.
Despite a $5 billion budget to buy or build detention centers, DHS is being stymied in its quest to purchase giant warehouses to house its victims because outraged citizens are staging angry protests and local governments are refusing to approve the sales. Several large corporations have withdrawn from negotiations for the sale of their buildings in response to public outrage. DHS plans to expand capacity to house at least 150,000 detainees awaiting deportation, and CoreCivic and the GEO Group expect increasing profits from their investments.
Which raises the question of who they will incarcerate when they’ve finished rounding up every black, brown, Hispanic, or Asian body they can arrest? This is not about deporting the “worst of the worst”. This is about meeting little Stevie Miller’s quota of 3000 arrests a day and more than one-million deportations each year. It’s just a matter of time before they come for the “enemies of the state”, or anyone who dares to stand up to the vicious cruelty of Trump’s fascist regime.
ICE has denied or arrested numerous members of Congress who have tried to gain access to inspect and assess detention facilities across the country, as federal law provides their legal right to pursue oversight.
While we are horrified by the daily coverage of our government deploying armed troops to brutalize and abduct our neighbors, Trump’s personal attorneys in his “Justice Department” are busy fulfilling his obsession with his 2020 election loss by sending FBI agents to Fulton County, Georgia (Atlanta), overseen by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, to confiscate 700 boxes of ballots and other election materials, despite 3 recounts and numerous lawsuits being thrown out of court for lack of evidence of fraud.
The county has filed litigation demanding the return of all materials. Robb Pitts, chair of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, said, “We will fight using all resources against those who seek to take over our elections. Our Constitution itself is at stake in this fight.”
Trump wants the Republican Party to nationalize voting in the US, calling for Republican officials to “take over” voting processes in 15 (Democratic) states in the coming election. Voting rights experts expressed concern about these developments and warned that the administration might be laying the groundwork to intervene or cast doubt on this year’s midterms.
By law, voting districts are established and adjusted to reflect population shifts as determined by the census every ten years. Beginning with Trump’s demand that Texas redraw its districts to give the Republicans five more seats in the congressional races in 2026, at least 15 states are proposing or implementing new maps that will affect the outcome of the November elections.
Steve Bannon declared that the Republican administration plans to deploy ICE agents to “surround” polling stations in November to prevent voter “fraud” – meaning they plan to target and terrorize Black and Latino districts in Democratic cities. He has also suggested that Trump plans to defy the 22nd Amendment (which limits presidents to two terms) and remain in office despite the election results.
Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded that Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz hand over the state’s voter rolls, including driver’s license numbers and partial social security numbers in exchange for reducing ICE operations in the state, claiming, “Fulfilling this common sense request will better guarantee free and fair elections, and boost confidence in the rule of law." As her recent Congressional testimony displayed, she is a totally incompetent, unqualified, racist, Trump bootlicker.
The administration has demanded full, unredacted voter rolls from Democratic states and has sued more than twenty for refusing to provide them. Most states have declined and instead provided publicly available versions of their files.
“The federal government has neither the authority nor the resources to conduct list maintenance, yet the Trump administration has made clear that one of its goals in collecting nationwide voter files is to run its own analyses and attempt to force states to remove voters from the rolls based on incomplete and likely inaccurate information.”
Providing such a trove of personal information to a corrupt Justice Department bent on sowing distrust in the coming elections would carry serious privacy and security risks for millions of citizens.
In dismissing the DOJ’s case against California for its voter rolls, the court stated, “While the DOJ has told this Court that its purpose for demanding the sensitive voter information of Californians is ‘voter roll maintenance enforcement and compliance,’ representations made by the DOJ elsewhere paint a starkly different picture that this Court cannot ignore… the DOJ’s campaign to collect sensitive voter data…paints an alarming picture regarding the centralization of Americans’ information within the Executive Branch — without approval from Congress or Americans themselves.”
The House passed the “Safe Act” in a blatant and desperate attempt to suppress voter registration by minorities and women by requiring “proof of citizenship” documents (a birth certificate, passport, marriage licenses, divorce decrees, etc.) that many citizens do not possess. The Bill is awaiting Senate consideration, and its passage would rescind or negate most of the voting rights enacted in the last century.
With Trump’s tumbling polls and psychotic rants, Republicans are terrified that they will lose their grip on power in a landslide repudiation by the angry and frustrated voters who elected him to his second term. The president and his MAGA loyalists will employ any means to avoid that defeat, including declaring martial law, deploying armed troops to Democratic districts, cancelling the elections, and sending federal agents to commandeer ballots and voting machines before tallies can be completed. They fear a Democratic Congress and a rejuvenated Justice Department unrestrained in the pursuit of those responsible for the violence and chaos inflicted on our country by Trump’s administration of traitors.
Ezra Levin, a rally organizer and the co-founder of the progressive group Indivisible, said in an interview that the planned third “No Kings” protest will be in response to a “secret police force terrorizing American communities.” Organizers said they are aiming for nearly 9 million people to turn out on March 28. It’s time for every American to join together to bring down Trump’s fascist regime before they destroy our democracy.
In case you missed it, for a contribution of a mere $1 million, you can attend a gala celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday at the White House on July 4th! For $250 million, you will have an opportunity to actually speak with our grifter-in-chief and have a photo taken. We can be absolutely sure that none of these funds will be given to a worthy cause but will be deposited in Trump’s bank account straight away!
Stand Up! Speak Out! Make a Difference! While We Still Can!
